OCTOBER
19-23 Sun.-Thurs. Annual WAMOregon Cascades Foray
Join with Charmoon, David
Campbell, and company, for 4 days & nights of mushroom hunting,
identification, feasting,
and camaraderie. Based from our reserved lodge and cabins in scenic
west-central Oregon, we
will go each day to a different hunting ground, and return each night
to cook up yet another bountiful
mushroom meal. Cost: $495, dbl.occ., includes lodging,
all dinners & breakfasts,
permits, and instruction. Transportation not included. Group size is limited.

SALT POINT 1/2 DAY FORAY

there has been some rain, come join with Charmoon for the first
W.A.M.Salt
Point foray
of the season. We will hunt
for chanterelles, and perhaps king boletes, shrimp russulas, & whatever
else may be up at this time.
We will then cook up our edible finds, and enjoy a potluck picnic. Group
size is limited. Fee:

MUSHROOMS & WINE TASTING AT SCHUG WINERY

WAMwill
be serving tasty mushroom treats to enjoy along with the yummy wines of
Schug Winery in the southern
Sonoma Valley, during the annual
Holiday in Carneros. On Saturday,
Charmoon and helpers will
be on hand, and on Sunday, WAM foray co-leaders David and Jeanne
Campbell will be there,
as Charmoon will be back in Mendocino for the Fungi Finale.

morning, followed by an
afternoon mushroom walk in search of mushroom specimens to discuss,
and perhaps harvest &

SOMA WILD MUSHROOM CAMP RETREAT

will be a unique mushroom experience, both educational and social. The
program will include a mushroom
identification class, as well as mushroom cooking demonstrations,
an evening slideshow, pot
luck dinner, and lots of time in the field (or woods, as the case may be)
hunting for mushrooms. The
class will be lodging for the weekend at the Clem Miller Environmental
Education Center at Pt.
Reyes. Instruction begins Saturday morning at 10:00 AM. Optional early
arrival Friday evening.

FUTURE EVENTS:
Spring date to be announced Mushroom Cultivation Workshop
This one-day workshop with
Charmoon will combine both lecture and hands-on activities. Participants
will receive instruction
in the basic principals of home mushroom cultivation, and will make oyster
mushroom kits to take home.
There will be demonstrations of both mulch and log inoculation
techniques, discussion of
intercropping mushrooms with garden vegetables, and much more. Inquire
if interested in more details.
****** SPRING MOREL & PORCINIFORAYS******
Join
with Charmoon Richardson & David Campbell as we head to the Sierra
Nevada in search of
those
delectable spring treats, wild morel and porcini (Sierra king bolete) mushrooms.
We will be
camping
or lodging (if camping, limited lodging usually available nearby) in the
mountains in areas
known
for morels and spring porcini, and we will hunt mushrooms by day and feast
at night. We
will
teach you the tricks of the wily morels, and share other mushroom knowledge
as well, including
the
collecting of other mushroom specimens for display and educational discussion
over the
weekend.
Come join the fun! We will have Sierra forays on both Mother's Day &
Memorial Day
Weekends,
and perhaps others. Details will be announced in the Spring/Summer 2004
schedule.
