WORKSHOP INFORMATION:
A Two Day Hands-On
Mushroom and Permaculture Workshop
at the Davis Bynum Winery Permaculture Garden
with a delicious Mushroom and Wine Tasting!
August 10-11th, 2002
Join us for a weekend at the Bynum Winery Permaculture Garden and learn both the fundamentals of Permaculture Design, and how to enhance any garden, farm or permaculture system with the use of culinary, medicinal and mycorrhizal mushrooms.
Learn about:
> Functional planting strategies.
> Rainwater harvesting.
> Zone and sector analysis.
> Soil building and bio-remediation.
> Basic mushroom biology and ecology
> At home mushroom propagation techniques.
> Uses of mycorrhizal soil inoculants.
This beautiful and diverse working permaculture site, located atop a scenic hill in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, provides an excellent opportunity to explore topics such as:
> Plant guilds and how gardens can evolve towards lower maintenance as the harvest grows.
> Your beneficial role on the planet as a soil builder and designer of functionally diverse whole systems.
> The powerfully
effective partnerships we can develop with plants and living systems to
utilize residential
and commercial byproducts. "Waste" = Food.
> The array of ways that higher fungi can be an integral part of any permaculture or home garden system.
Discussion
of these topics is complemented by a full garden tour, hands-on mushroom/gardening
projects, and handouts and resource lists. As part of the hand-on demonstrations,
participants will make their own mushroom kits to take home.
Top it all off enjoying
great Davis Bynum wines
and a variety of delicious wild & cultivatied mushroom dishes!

About Forest Garden Productions:
Forest Garden Productions is a cooperative effort of three consciously eco-active businesses: Occidental Mushrooms, a producer of organic gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, Sentient Landscape, a developer of Permaculture garden & landscape systems, and the Wild About Mushrooms Co., a mushroom education and touring business. Each of our small companies is interested in promoting ecologically sound and sustainable garden systems. We have come together in a joint effort to demonstrate and teach about the advantages of Permaculture, and how to integrate the cultivation of both gourmet and medicinal mushrooms into any garden, farm, or landscape.
Our first cooperative event will
be the Mushrooms and Permaculture Weekend Workshop. If you have any questions,
or may be interested in having us do a presentation or installation for
you or your group, please let any one of us know.
